Principal’s Welcome
Welcome to 2026!
As we embark upon the new year it is important to share with our community our 2026 plans and priorities.
We will continue to have a very strong focus upon improving with literacy and numeracy. I am pleased to report that in 2025 our NAPLAN relative growth Data for achieving Higher to Medium Growth, exceeded the state average for Reading, Writing, Spelling and Numeracy.
Years 7 → 9 ● Reading 84% / State 74%
● Writing 88% / State 73%
● Spelling 79% / State 74%
● Numeracy 84% / State 74%
Our emphasis upon improving student academic outcomes will be strengthened with further professional development with our staff on the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model (VTLM) 2.0 which prioritises teaching practices and pedagogy to understand a student point of need and strategies to cater for their individual differences.
In 2026, the College will continue to access students through PAT literacy and numeracy tests to further understand student’s weaknesses and to suitably adjust the lesson plans for each student. We will further develop our instructional model especially in the ‘Teach’ and “Learn’ models.
I encourage parents/guardians to connect with our College especially through ‘Compass’. Any parents/guardians who need assistance with accessing Compass, are encouraged to contact the General Office and our staff will willingly assist.
Compass is our main method of communication to both parents and students. Student lesson plans are posted each day, and they should ensure they connect daily to be organised and well informed. Parents will also receive messages reporting and calendar events through the Compass portal.
Our newsletter is also posted on the website every 3 weeks. A hard copy is also available form the General Office.
We also have student wellbeing as a huge priority, and we have further increased our staffing in our Wellbeing team to cater for the diverse needs of students.
Student attendance is of utmost importance, and we monitor this closely in each class, and send an SMS to parents/guardians if student is absent.
I have emphasized ‘Compass’ but we also encourage personal appointments, should you wish to do so. It is crucial that school and home work together, with the needs of each student.
In 2026 we have planned many engaging activities so students can have fun and feel connected to our College.
Our College strongly reinforces our values of: Respect, Excellence, Teamwork, Integrity, Responsibility
We look forward to a productive and positive 2026!
