State Finals – Volleyball

Congratulations to the Yr 7 Boys for their efforts today at the State Finals.

After around 400 teams entered the competition, we went through District and then fell 5 points short at Region of qualifying for the State finals. The Wimmera region winner was unable to make it to the finals so we were offered an invitation two weeks ago. With limited preparation with exams in the Hall, we started today with no expectations.

We lost a close game to Eltham (a Volleyball Academy School), defeated Notre Dame and Gisborne and progressed to the Semi Finals.

We played Monbulk who were just too good, who then lost the final to Eltham who we took a set off, which makes our achievements today even better than expected.

Thanks to Adamson Toafa for his coaching, Skye Silbery for her umpiring and photography and Miss Fitzgerald for her assistance with the team today.

The boys deserve a well earned rest for the weekend. When they return to the College on Monday they need to be aware that their achievements are higher than just “OK”, and that they should be proud on their efforts, sportsmanship and not underestimate the final result of equal THIRD IN THE STATE!

Champions in our eyes!
